Fantasy on the Brink of the Renaissance
Ithea is a fantasy world full of magic, non-human races and monsters. Civilization however has reached the point of just beginning the renaissance. Art is starting to blossom and more nations are looking to trading over warring.
Anime Fantasy takes place in the Renaissance period or before, and typically has non-human races, magic, and monsters. The biggest difference between Anime Fantasy and Fantasy is Anime Fantasy is often 'cleaner' and blurs technology levels. For example, a medieval period city in Anime Fantasy might have clean streets, a shop that sells candy, and an adventurer wearing shorts and a halter top while in Fantasy the streets are dirty, shops focus on blacksmithy and general goods, and people typically wear the correct clothing for the time period.
The flourishing of art. Culture starts to grow and take center stage in a lot of places. While there is still war, the creation of factories and trans ocean travel puts a larger focus on trade and conquering those at a lower tech level rather than wars with a nations peers.
The Gregorian Calendar. Months are January through December, days are Sunday through Saturday, and years are measured in AD and BC.
There are other races but the vast majority are human. This could be caused by physical separation (there are more non-humans they just don't travel much in human lands or worlds). This could also be the case where the non-humans are the result of magical or technological means.
Magic is real in this setting and people know of it, but it's use is not widespread. Those that can use magic are few and far between. Because of this most things function based off how they would in non magical worlds.
Magic Affinity is something that very few people have. Finding out someone has affinity to magic is often a life changing discovery.
An planet much like Earth around the 17th century. Well into the age of sailing the various kingdoms have started to venture out and look for least combat specific means to growing. The countainant are further apart than Earth, leaning to less ocean based exploration having been done in the past.
