A survival VRMMORPG

The Ascent

The Ascent is a full dive video game world where the characters' senses feel like the game world is real while playing. While not logged in they are on Earth with normal lives there.

Setting Rules

Genre: Gamer

The genre is a blend. It revolves around a game that the main character plays, often a full dive VRMMORPG. For the sake of the setting the outside world is most often modern, with realistic, human only, no magic rules. The Setting Rules apply to the in-game world only.

Tech Level: Survival

Survival is a tech level based off whatever can be crafted from natural resources. Walking is the means of travel and weapons consists of stone knives and spears as well as simple bows. Often times the main character previously came from another tech level, such as a person being shipwrecked on a non-inhabited island, so the technology level might increase slowly over time as more advanced way of handling things are discovered.

Calendar: Standard

The Gregorian Calendar. Months are January through December, days are Sunday through Saturday, and years are measured in AD and BC.

Sentient Races: Mostly Human

There are other races but the vast majority are human. This could be caused by physical separation (there are more non-humans they just don't travel much in human lands or worlds). This could also be the case where the non-humans are the result of magical or technological means.

Magic: High Magic

Magic is real in the setting and it is everywhere. Cities have schools for learning magic and temples and churches are assumed to have people who can use healing magic. Magic also most likely is weaved into technology allowing people to do things that otherwise would have been invented much later in the future.

Magic Rarity: By Class

Magic is limited to those having a magic based class. In a video game or isekai this might literally be someone having a magic class. In other story types, it might be more tied to a large amount of education and focus required.

Planets/Worlds in Setting

What's there to say is our planet? Earth is Earth. If you need more of a description...

The Ascent

A video game world consisting of 'floors' with five zone each. Each zone is randomly generated on each server. The game is a full dive game so even though it is artificial, it feels real to those within it.
